UCL Day Nursery website rebuild

The UCL Day Nursery is committed to providing high quality childcare and nursery education for the children of UCL students and staff.

Information was available on a very old website as part of its Division’s website (Estates), but over the years, the only people who know how to update it had left the organisation. This meant the content was dated and inaccurate.

Alex Perry, the Senior Communications Manager for UCL Estates commissioned That Web Person to re-build the Estates website. The Nursery pages were out-of-scope but as the project began, it became apparent that information would need to live somewhere.

Given the detailed nature of the content, That Web Person recommended that UCL Nursery’s content was presented through its own site, separate from the Estates’ content pages. This also meant we could launch this site without it being dependent on the launch of the parent Estates website.

Using the UCL Drupal template, the old content was condensed and simplified. With it being a separate site, we were able to give it a more suitable navigational structure. The site was brought to life with Professional photography, commissioned specifically for the project.

Key achievements

  • site was built and live in two months.

  • the content can easily be updated by the Nursery team following bespoke Drupal training from That Web Person.

  • the site follows the same page layout at Estates, its parent division.

The Google Analytic reports that are emailed monthly to the team show a steady increase in traffic.
