The Cranfield Trust provide pro-bono services and free resources for charities. This includes free management support, mentoring, masterclasses and webinars.

Digital Masterclass

The Trust approached Reena to deliver a masterclass on digital communications to a cohort of charities supporting children funded by Nominet and BBC Children in Need.

Delegates from over 20 charities attended to learn more about how to use digital communication more effectively.

Presented in collaboration with Andrew Hunt, Strategic and Business Transformation Consultant, the seminar focused on:

  • What digital means for the Third Sector

  • User-led test-driven design

  • Understanding digital needs and capabilities

  • Using digital systems and tools for promotion and awareness raising

  • Ways to increase your website’s effectiveness

The seminar was planned to be run again with different charity sectors, but the pandemic hit and sessions were cancelled. It is hoped these will run again soon.

Reena delivered a great session in our digital masterclass workshop.

She pitched it at exactly the right level, and all the delegates told us that they had useful ideas and guidance to take away.

Reena got everyone engaged with the session and contributed to it - she made it a great success.

Digital consulting

That Web Person provides pro-bono digital consulting to Cranfield Trust’s supported charities.

Legal Action Group

Legal Action Group’s website was old, difficult and expensive to maintain. They were keen to reach younger audiences and reduce overheads by sharing more content digitally. The Cranfield Trust connected Reena and the charity to help them discuss their options.

After a few initial meetings, Reena advised them that given the age of the site, they would be better off redeveloping the site. She was able to provide support on how to write a website brief to help with the tendering process and make them a more attractive client to work with.

Rochdale Connections Trust

Holly at Rochdale Connections Trust had no background or remit in communications, but she recognised that their website wasn’t working hard enough for them. She approached The Cranfield Trust to apply for some pro-bono support to improve it.

Rochdale Connections Trust’s website was created by a volunteer. Over time the site had become muddled with so many additional services being offered and needed a review.

Reena provided Holly with some simple low-cost ways to improve it which Holly could implement straight away. The site now focuses more on the services they offer with clearer calls to action on how to get involved. Holly was left feeling confident that she would be able to tackle the other improvements in chunks over time.

The Louise Project

The Louise Project is a safe space for migrant ethnic groups and families in Govenhill, Glasgow.

When The Cranfield Trust connected That Web Person and The Louise Project in Glasgow, Reena was lucky enough to be able to visit in person to see the amazing work they were doing in a very deprived area of Glasgow.

Reena was able to provide Margo with a range of marketing ideas she would be able to implement to help promote her work, on and offline. The discussion focused on identifying their target audiences with it being clear individual donations would be hard to get. Margot was able to pivot her marketing strategy to focus on Corporates, Trusts and Foundations and made improvements to their website.

I have now appointed a new interim Project Manager and two new websites have been up and running since December.

Amazingly, we were shortlisted for two national awards and two national Catholic project awards last year…...... what an incredible end to 2021.

We are moving forward!
